People leave Xaghra parish church after attending Mass in the home town of surviving Siamese twin Gracie Attard, better known as Jodie, on the island of Gozo, Malta's sister island, on June 18, 2001. They are walking past memorial cards in a glass showcase. The use of memorial cards is a Maltese tradition which commemorates the recently departed - one is for Gracie's twin sister Rosie, otherwise known as Mary. Gracie had eturned to Gozo from Manchester the previous day, amidst controversy over a cross media deal worth about half a million pounds Sterling. Local and international media found access to the family next to impossible, which caused widespread disappointment among the staunchly Roman Catholic Maltese and Gozitan people who were uncomfortable with the family selling their story for money and shutting everyone else out.
