Immigrants from the Darfur region of Sudan at a makeshift centre for recently released illegal immigrants in Hal Far, outside Valletta, May 12, 2006. The Maltese authorities have been releasing immigrants held in detention for long periods to make way for an expected influx of migrants in the coming months. The released immigrants, though having clamoured for release for several months, are complaining that their new tented accommodation is substandard and want to move back into detention, and would rather be back in Darfur itself in a refugee camp.
